Hayes Greenfield’s Gravity Unplugged is an unpredictable and adventurous electro-acoustic journey through standard jazz repertoire and free jazz improvisation. Hayes on alto saxophone and effects leads a highly versatile chord-less trio, featuring Ariel De La Portilla on upright bass and either Chuck Palmer or Todd Turkisher on drums through shifting improvisations, well known tunes and musical exchanges that titillates, challenges and delight the ears.

Creative Sound Play is entirely analog and inspires children to collaborate and build community while they develop their active listening and social emotional learning skills, and executive function abilities – inhibitory control, working memory, and cognitive flexibility.
All the necessary ingredients that help children navigate transitions times successfully and prepare them to succeed in school and in life. As importantly it helps teachers teach by enabling them to manage their classrooms better and suffer less burnout.
Creative Sound Play LTD, is a play-based method for engaging all children – verbal, non-verbal, and neurodiverse with simple, common-sense like sound making activities– NOT music! Nothing gives children more joy, happiness, and fills them with pure wonderment than making and listening to all kinds of sound.

In 2021, I began partnering with the National Head Start Association and The Academy, their On-line portal for professional developmental to teach my course Effective Transition Essentials to Head Start coaches, educational and curriculum specialists, and teachers. As well I am a regular contributor to their innovative webinar series Tackling Challenging Behaviors with Dr. Deborah Bergeron.
Innovation in Live Spatial Immersive Music!
With the advent of Eventide guitar effects pedals, loopers, and Max/MSP computer software hayes has created a unique rig that enables him to push the sonic boundaries of spatial immersive sound and music. As an electro-acoustic musician and multi instrumentalist hayes’ solo spatial immersive music can be heard in either a live quad setting with four speakers placed in each corner of a room surrounding the audience, or with earbuds or headphones listening to binaural recordings. Either way as the music dances, twists and bends around your head in Spatial bliss, it puts air in the room, takes on a physical quality, and invites a sense of meditative calm.

Hayes Greenfield is the creator of two educational programs: Creative Sound Play, a pioneering play-based approach that engages young children with sound and silence, and Jazz-A-Ma-Tazz, an award-winning jazz education program designed for young people and families.
As an activist, Hayes has produced two award winning short films about children - For the Children and Friends of the Children.
As composer, Hayes has written and recorded countless jazz tunes, a handful of concert pieces, and scored more than 70 films, documentaries, commercials, animations, and TV specials.
